MEMS: Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems

(I:Mem:1)

“Micro Electronic Mechanical System or MEMS is the integration of a number of micro components on a single chip which allows the micro system to both sense and control the environment.”

(Mem:1)

Nanotechnology and MEMs technology are relying on each other because most of the MEMS technologies require most size to be on the nano scale only. An example would be crash airbag accelerometers they are manufacture by MEMS technology. During the long term these air bags starts to degrade but with the help of nanotechnology, SAM (Self-Assembled Monolayer) coating  which routinely use to make sure the MEMS on the surface do not move. With the use of nanotechnology anything in the nano size scale can be put or move in any spot necessary. (Mem:1)
